John J. Tkacik Jr. is Senior Research Fellow in Asian Studies at the Heritage Foundation with a research focus on U.S. policies toward China (including Hong Kong and Macao), Taiwan, and Mongolia. Mr. Tkacik is a retired diplomat who served overseas with the U.S. Foreign Service in Taiwan, Iceland, China and the former British Crown Colony of Hong Kong, as well as in the Department of State in Washington, D.C. He is the editor and main contributor to Rethinking One China (Heritage, 2004).
On November 15th at the FPRI annual dinner Fouad Ajami was presented with the Seventh Annual Benjamin Franklin Public Service Award. The event was attended by over 360 people.
