John Hillen

The Hon. John Hillen, D.Phil. is the President and CEO of Global Defense Technology & Systems, Inc., a publicly traded (NASDAQ: GTEC) defense technology and intelligence firm. Prior to joining Global Defense Technology and taking it public, Hillen served as Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs in the Bush administration from 2005-07. Prior to this, Hillen ran two technology firms undertaking classified work for the U.S. government and served as the COO of a financial services firm on Wall Street. Hillen is also a former Army Officer who has been decorated for his actions in combat. He earned his bachelor's degree from Duke, a master's from King's College London, a doctorate from Oxford, an MBA from Cornell and is the author and editor of numerous books and articles on international security. He is a current FPRI trustee.
