Arthur Waldron, Senior Fellow, is the Lauder Professor of International Relations at the University of Pennsylvania and Vice President and co-founder of the International Assessment and Strategy Center in Washington, D.C. (www.strategycenter.net), a 501(c)3 research organization. At Penn he has begun a program on strategy; he also directs the Indo-US forum in cooperation with two Indian research groups. Dr. Waldron is the author of three major books, From War to Nationalism: China’s Turning Point, 1924–1925 (Cambridge University Press, 1995), How The Peace Was Lost (Stanford University Press, 1992) and The Great Wall of China: From History to Myth (Cambridge University Press, 1990). He has edited, or contributed chapters or introductions to, more than twenty books. His articles have appeared in Foreign Affairs, Orbis, China Quarterly, Commentary, World Politics, and American Historical Review. Prof. Waldron is also a member of the boards of the Jamestown Foundation and Freedom House. He is currently writing a history of the Chinese civil war 1945-49.
