Vladislav Zubok

Senior Fellow, Foreign Policy Research Institute

Vladislav Zubok, Senior Fellow, is a professor in History at Temple University and a Research Fellow and Summer Projects Organizer (by correspondence), the National Security Archive, at George Washington University. He received his Diploma and M.A. in History from Moscow State University, 1980, and his Ph.D. in History from the Institute for the U.S. and Canada Studies of the Academy of Sciences (Moscow) in 1985. He was previously a Senior Research Fellow-in-Residence, The National Security Archive, George Washington University, 1994–2001; and director of Russia and East Block Archival Documents Database Project of the National Security Archive, George Washington University and Cold War International History Project, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington D.C., funded by Smith Richardson Foundation, creating an English language catalogue of newly available documentation, 1996–2001. From 1995–98 he was a Senior Series Consultant (with John Lewis Gaddis and Lawrence Freedman) on CNN-Jeremy Isaacs Productions’ “Cold War,” a 24-hour documentary series. His books include Russian Anti-Americanism: From Stalin to Putin, with Eric Shiraev (Palgrave Press, 2000); Inside the Kremlin’s Cold War from Stalin to Khrushchev, with Constantin Pleshakov (Harvard University Press, 1996); and A Failed Empire: The Soviet Union in the Cold War from Stalin to Gorbachev (University of North Carolina Press, 2007).
