The PRC Girds for Limited, High-Tech War

The end of the cold war has caused many states to reevaluate their security strategies, China not least among them. To understand the direction that Chinese security strategy is likely to take, it is necessary to first define the factors by which it is most influenced. These include Chinese leaders’ current perceptions of the world security environment and the threats to China’s security, and the status of China’s domestic situation, including the economic and political climate. Only after these factors have been considered can one fully understand the options currently debated by Chinese security strategists.
