Adele K. Schaeffer (B.A. University of Pennsylvania) is an emeritus trustee of the University; at Penn she served as Chair of the Board of Overseers of the School of Dental Medicine and Chair of the Board of Overseers at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. She is a member of the Trustees Council of Penn Women and a former Vice President of the Executive Committee of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Society. She was a docent/guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and is a Trustee of the Moore College of Art and Design. She has also served as co-Chair of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of Philadelphia.  Adele is on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Orchestra and is a member of the Academy of Music Committee and the Nominating and Governance Committee of the Orchestra. She was President of the Board of the National Liberty Museum and remains a member of the board. She is a Trustee of the Wistar Institute where she chairs the Development Committee. Mrs. Schaeffer received the University of Pennsylvania’s highest Alumni Award, the Award of Merit. She established the Adele K. Schaeffer Trustee Scholarship and other scholarships in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Dental Medicine. She received the Hearing Leadership Award from the National Organization of Hearing Research, the Heroes of liberty Award from the National Liberty Museum, and the Wistar Award from the Wistar Institute.
