James H. Averill

James H. Averill retired in 2007 as Partner from Wellington Management, an investment counsel firm based in Boston. He served in Wellington’s Radnor office as a security analyst and portfolio manager on the Windsor Fund team for 23 years, specializing in financial companies. In a prior career, he taught English Literature at Princeton University from 1976-1983 and was author of Wordsworth and the Poetry of Human Suffering (Cornell, 1980) and editor of Wordsworth’s An Evening Walk (Cornell, 1984) in the Cornell Wordsworth series. He serves on the Boards of the American Council of Learned Societies and the Rosenbach Museum and Library and was formerly Treasurer of the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation. A graduate of Yale College (1969}, he earned a Ph.D. in English from Cornell (1976) and an MBA from Columbia (1985).
