Cyrus Schayegh is Associate Professor of modern Middle Eastern history at Princeton University. His first book, Who Is Knowledgeable, Is Strong: Science, Class, and the Formation of Modern Iranian Society, 1900-1950, explored modern Iranian uses of a variety of bio-medical sciences. His forthcoming book, Transnationalization: A History of the Modern Middle East, examines how in the Middle East, cities, their ties, and regions interplayed with new nation-states and empires from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century. He earned his PhD in Middle Eastern and Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University in 2004.
