Ryan Neuhard

Ryan Neuhard was the Deputy Director of the Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) from 2021 until 2023. His research focused on security issues related to military, economic, and technology developments in the Indo-Pacific region.

During his time at FPRI, Mr. Neuhard supported the Asia Program’s launch of the China Center, the project proposals that secured the Asia team’s first two research contracts from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and the organizing of FPRI’s first US-Japan-Taiwan Track II dialogue on defense and deterrence.

Prior to joining FPRI, Mr. Neuhard studied topics related to China and North Korea while serving as a Research Associate at Hudson Institute. His work has appeared in publications such as The Diplomat, The National Interest, War on the Rocks, Proceedings, and Orbis. Mr. Neuhard holds an M.A. in security studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in international relations from the College of William and Mary.
