Shifting Sands: New-Old Alliance Blocs in the Middle East

About the Event

Two discrete regional alliance blocs in the Middle East have re-emerged in the aftermath of the Arab uprising – those waging war against radicalism in hopes of preserving state stability in the region versus Islamists and other elements bent on undoing the status quo.  Where is the Middle East headed, and what role should the US play? To discuss these questions, we are pleased to feature Tally Helfont, Director of FPRI’s Program on the Middle East.  She has published in The American Interest magazine and Orbis, as well as various Arab and Israeli publications.
