On April 9-10, 2005, the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Marvin Wachman Fund for International Education held its 13th History Institute for Teachers, focusing on “Understanding the Koreas.” Specially designed for secondary school teachers and curriculum supervisors, the program featured a series of lectures by leading scholars in several fields. Forty teachers from 17 states attended the weekend conference.
Edward Shultz is a Professor of Asian Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he has taught for 29 years. See his “Top Ten Things To Know About Korea in the 21st Century,” in the Winter 2002 issue of Education about Asia.
This History Institute was supported by grants from The Annenberg Foundation and the James and Agnes Kim Foundation.
On November 15th at the FPRI annual dinner Fouad Ajami was presented with the Seventh Annual Benjamin Franklin Public Service Award. The event was attended by over 360 people.
