Jacqueline Deal

Senior Fellow, FPRI ·

deal_jacquelineAs Jackie Deal writes in a recent essay “the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, while taking care not to cross the line into outright war, is on the march,” deploying impressive new weapons and platforms, engaging in cyber attacks on US targets, and building islands in the South China Sea to buttress their claims to disputed areas. Dr. Deal will explore how to compete with China while containing the prospects for conflict. She worked for over a decade with the Director of the Office of the Secretary of Defense/Net Assessment on projects related to East Asia and held postdoctoral fellowships at the Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs and the Olin Institute for Strategic Studies, both at Harvard. She is co-founder of the American Academy for Strategic Education.
