The Holocaust: History and Memory

  • October 21, 2016
Jeremy Black

Senior Fellow

The renowned historian Jeremy Black will discuss his new book The Holocaust: History and Memory, which does more than tell the story of the brutal mass slaughter of Jews during WWII; it explains how that genocide has been remembered and misremembered ever since. It is thus both a history of the Holocaust and a history of the histories of the Holocaust. Taking issue with generations of scholars who separate the Holocaust from Germany’s military ambitions, Black demonstrates that Germany’s war on the Allies was entwined with Hitler’s war on the Jews. One of FPRI’s most popular lecturers, he is the author of over 100 books on diplomatic and military history. He is Professor of History at the University of Exeter in London, England and a Senior Fellow in FPRI’s Center for the Study of America and the West.
