The Foreign Policy Research Institute Announces
The Foreign Policy Round Table for Rising Philadelphians
Sponsored by BNY Mellon Wealth Management
Is the so-called pivot to Asia still practical? How will China’s recent actions in the East China and South China seas impact regional security? What are the implications for US defense strategy? To address these topics and more, we have asked Dr. Jacqueline Deal to be our guest speaker for the inaugural Foreign Policy Round Table for Rising Philadelphians.
Dr.Jacqueline Deal, an FPRI Senior Fellow, is President and CEO of the Long Term Strategy Group, a Washington, DC-based defense consultancy. For the last decade, she has worked with the Director of the Office of the Secretary of Defense/Net Assessment on projects related to East Asia. Recent studies include an analysis of the security implications of alternative Chinese futures, an assessment of China’s capacity for technological innovation, and a book chapter on China’s energy security strategy. She has been published in the New York Times, Policy Review, the Weekly Standard, and War in History, and she has been cited in a range of media outlets including Newsweek. Prior to entering the national security field, she worked as a journalist and an investment analyst.
About the Roundtable Sponsored by BNY Mellon Wealth Management, the Foreign Policy Round Table is a new initiative by FPRI to provide a venue for rising Philadelphians to engage with leaders, policy experts, and – most importantly – each other about the most pressing foreign policy issues of the day. Through its unique lens embracing history, geography, and culture, FPRI will aid the next generation of Philadelphians in understanding contemporary international affairs. This series is open exclusively to professionals and students under 50.
