About the Event

Michael DoranThe nuclear deal with Iran has been the occasion of great debate within the United States. In this talk one of the nation’s leading specialists on the Middle East, Michael Doran, will discuss the rationale underlying American strategy, the geopolitics of the region, and how things are shaping up in the Middle East. Before joining the Hudson Institute, Doran served as a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. In government, he served in the White House as a senior director for the Middle East on the National Security Council and in the Pentagon as deputy assistant secretary of defense (during the George W. Bush Administration). He received his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton and has published in Foreign Affairs, The American Interest, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
