The Story of a Muslim Woman’s National Security Work with Three American Presidents

| Center for the Study of America and the West

About the Event

Hon. Shirin Tahir-KheliJoin us for a conversation with Ambassador Shirin Tahir-Kheli about her memoir Before the Age of Prejudice: A Muslim Woman’s National Security Work with Three American Presidents. This account marks her incredible trajectory as a Muslim immigrant of Indian-Pakistani heritage to the highest levels of the US national security establishment under Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush. FPRI takes particular pride in her story, for Amb. Tahir-Kheli got her start at FPRI, where she was first a junior fellow, then a senior fellow, and is now an Adjunct Scholar and a member of our Board of Advisors. Both in government and out, she played a crucial role in bringing high-level Indians and Pakistanis together, and served as the “go-to” person on Pakistan for more than one American president. She also served as Alternate US Representative to the UN, which carries the rank of Ambassador, and as Special Adviser to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Women’s Empowerment in the Muslim World.

Books will be available for sale at the talk or are available for purchase on Amazon.

*This talk was originally scheduled to feature Amb. Vicki Huddleston who, due to unforeseen circumstances, will not be able to appear.
