A nation must think before it acts.
Once broken and fragmented, China is now a force on the global stage. Sulmaan Khan analyzes the grand strategies of each of China's leaders since the Communist Party came to power. But how well will China respond to today's challenges: an aging population, widespread government corruption, neighbors alarmed by China's growing assertiveness, and environmental degradation?
Khan is assistant professor of international history and Chinese foreign relations at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. He received his Ph.D. from Yale University.
