John F. Lehman, Jr.Much is known about how America won the Cold War. But far less known, is the role the US Navy played in bringing that conflict to an end. Drawing upon his new book, Oceans Ventured: Winning the Cold War at Sea, Lehman tells the recently declassified stories of the naval operations that played a major role in winning the Cold War. A great geopolitical thinker in the tradition of his mentor, FPRI founder Robert Strausz-Hupé, John Lehman will examine the role of sea power in geopolitics – both during the Cold War and today. Currently an FPRI Trustee, Lehman got his start at FPRI, and went on to serve in many high-ranking government positions, including Deputy Director of the US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, senior staff member to Henry Kissinger in the White House, Secretary of the Navy, and a member of the 9/11 Commission.
