About the Event

THIS EVENT WILL NOW BE HELD VIRTUALLY

FPRI takes the health of our staff, speakers, and guests seriously. We have been closely monitoring information from local, state, and federal officials regarding the CoronaVirus (COVID-19), and in an abundance of caution, we have decided to forego the live version of this event. In its place, we will be holding the event virtually on Zoom.

In this conversation, Vidino and Granieri will explore Vidino’s new book The Closed Circle (Columbia University Press, 2020) to give an unprecedented inside view of how one of the world’s most influential Islamist groups operates. Vidino draws on interviews with prominent former members of the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe and North America, revealing the secretive inner workings of Brotherhood-influenced groups. Vidino is director of George Washington University’s Program on Extremism and a senior fellow at FPRI.  A student of jihadi networks for 20 years, he has held positions  at Harvard University, the U.S. Institute of Peace, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, the RAND Corporation, and the Center for Security Studies in Zurich. He has testified before the U.S. Congress as well as other national parliaments.
