A nation must think before it acts.
VENUE:Present Day Club
The “Internet of Things” (IoT) is the concept of giving every device in our lives a unique Internet address and the ability to communicate, control and be controlled by other things. For national security, the implications are that we may be no better, and probably much worse, at securing such systems, than we have been for personal and business data. In terms of privacy, the amount of information about who we are, where we are, and how we live our lives is immense, and it may be used and misused in ways we have not even begun to imagine. What is IoT? What is its state of development and commercialization? Is the military/government using it? What are the security and privacy implications? To answer these questions, we are pleased to feature our own Lawrence Husick, who plays many roles at FPRI, including co-chair of our Center for the Study of Terrorism. He is a partner in Lipton, Weinberger & Husick, an intellectual property law firm, and a faculty member at the Whiting Graduate School of Engineering and the Zanvyl-Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Graduate Biotechnology Program of the Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Husick co- founded and served as the principal system architect of Infonautics Inc., co-founded and serves as Chief Innovation Officer of TeraDiscoveries, Inc., and co-manages Vimetrics LLC.
