WAYNE ROTARY SPEAKER SERIES:  THE 2nd SEASON

January 16, 2013 Lawrence Husick,  co-chair of the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Center for the Study of Terrorism and co-director of FPRI’s Project on Teaching Innovation presents on: “A History of Innovation – More than Just Tools and Toys.”  Innovation, he argues, is not just inventions; it is a process of making changes by introducing valuable methods, ideas, or products.  It is a value-creation mechanism and the way we humans manage to extract more value, generate more economic surplus and therefore more leisure time.  But why are innovators so celebrated in theory, and maligned in reality?

April 10, 2013:  Dr. Dwight Jaggard, Professor and Director of the Executive Management of Technology Program at the University of Pennsylvania speaks about: Decision Making and Persuasion –  Using results from management science, behavioral economics and social psychology, we examine common biases that can derail good decisions and some ways to enhance our own decision-making and persuasion skills.  Need some expert coaching?

June 5, 2013:  Mr. Craig A. Snider, Executive Director of the Snider Foundation, has 30 years of experience as a management executive and entrepreneur.  He will discuss: “The Legacy of Fathers and Sons”  – Or, what I learned, saw and heard  from my Dad and how it impacted my life and my relationships with my children.  Why I choose to follow in certain footsteps…

September 11, 2013:  Mr. Edward A. Turzanski, is the Templeton Fellow of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, where he co-chairs the Center for the Study of Terrorism.
On the 12th anniversary of 9/11, Ed will speak to us about “Intelligence and Espionage, Terrorism and Counterterrorism, U.S. National Security Policy and the American Presidency.”

All programs are on Wednesday evenings and start at 6 PM with cocktails, buffet and networking.  The meal service will be personally supervised by Margaret Kuo at Margaret Kuo Restaurant, 175 E. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA.  The speaker will begin at 7:00 PM.  Full subscription payment of only $260.00 for all 4 programs will include 4 bonus drink coupons. Please mail payments to The Rotary Club of Wayne, PO Box 432, Exton, PA 19341.  Profits go to support Rotary’s local, National and International humanitarian projects.  Contact Dr. Joseph R.
