Abdulaziz Sachedina

Abdulaziz Sachedina, a native of Tanzania, is Professor of Religious Studies, University of Virginia. He is fluent in Gujarati (native language), Swahili, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Hindi, English, German, and Turkish. His books include Human Rights and the Conlict of Cultures: Western and islamic Perspectives on Religious Liberty (co-authored with David Little and J.E. Kelsay ((University of South Carolina Press, 1988);  The Just Ruler in Twelver Shi’ism (Oxford University Press, 1988); and The Islamic Roots of Democratic Pluralism (Oxford University Press, 2001).
