Ashley J. Tellis

Often described as the “go-to” person on Pakistan, Ashley Tellis has held key positions in the U.S. government, including Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for the National Security Council for Strategic Planning and Southwest Asia, senior adviser to the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, and senior adviser to the US Ambassador to India. He was also senior policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. He is the co-editor of the eight most recent annual volumes of “Strategic Asia,” including the 2011 volume “Asia Responds to Its Rising Powers – China and India.” Dr. Tellis received his B.A. from the University of Bombay, and his Ph.D. from The University of Chicago.
