Bing West

Bing West is a Marine Corps infantry veteran of Vietnam, where he took part in a successful Marine counterinsurgency program, the Combined Action Platoons. Based on his experiences in Vietnam, he wrote a classic study of CI entitled The Village. He also served as an assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan administration. He is the author of three books on the Iraq War, including the The Strongest Tribe: War, Politics and the Endgame in Iraq.
