Gregory (Greg) Otto is an operator–investor with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of national security, global trade, maritime operations, and critical infrastructure. His work spans industrials, logistics, shipping, and technology-enabled financial services, with a focus on how geopolitics, regulation, and capital shape real-asset operating systems. He is deeply interested in—and well rooted in—the overlap between geopolitical dynamics and commercial decision-making.

Greg is the Founder and CEO of Steamboat Capital, a private investment platform deploying proprietary capital into industrial, logistics, maritime, and trade finance assets. Through Steamboat, he partners with institutional investors and management teams to build and scale operating companies at the convergence of technology, real assets, and critical infrastructure.

In addition, Greg serves as an Operating Partner at Altivare Capital Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm, where he supports platform formation, off-market origination, diligence, governance design, and operational value creation across industrial, logistics, and real estate investments. He also advises Day1 Ventures, a technology development company evolving into a venture studio, working with founders and investors to connect operating businesses with technology platforms in finance, logistics, and real estate.

Previously, Greg was the Founding CEO of Seapath, the US maritime investment arm of the Libra Group, where he established the firm’s strategy, built its leadership team, and executed approximately $200 million in vessel and port infrastructure investments. Earlier, he served as an early CFO and investor at Secro, a technology company digitizing global trade documentation and trade finance, supporting more than $20 million in venture capital fundraising through its Series A. He has also served on the board of Monmouth Real Estate Investment Corporation, a publicly traded industrial REIT that was acquired in 2022.

Across his career, Greg has led more than $200 million in direct investments and participated in over $4 billion in aggregate transactions, working with family offices, institutional investors, strategic operators, and public-sector stakeholders.

Earlier in his career, Greg spent nearly a decade at the US Department of State in maritime security and global trade roles, frequently working across interagency teams and with foreign partners to balance competing perspectives, objectives, and timelines. He continues to serve as an officer in the US Navy Reserve, currently supporting strategy and logistics integration at the Pentagon, bringing a practitioner’s perspective on geopolitics, risk, and critical infrastructure. He holds an active TS/SCI security clearance.

Outside of his professional and military responsibilities, Greg enjoys spending time with his wife and with his broader family and friends.
