Dr. Idit Shafran Gittleman is a senior researcher at the “Israel’s National Security Policy” program at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS). Before joining the institute, she headed the Army and Society Program at the Israel Democracy Institute, was a postdoctoral fellow at the Minerva Center for the Rule of Law and Extreme Conditions at the University of Haifa, and a fellow of the GlobalTrust program at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Law. She is also a visiting lecturer at Reichman University and serves on the board of the Israeli Association for the Study of Armed Forces and Society, as well as the Deborah Forum.
