Jessica Pickering (she/her) is a Research Intern in the Africa Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. She is a graduate student at Tulane University, pursuing a master’s degree in Homeland Security Studies with an Intelligence concentration. She earned her BA in International Relations, focusing on foreign policy, diplomacy, peace, and security from the University of Washington in Seattle. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa, where she taught secondary mathematics and English and ran a girls club volleyball program. Jessica is passionate about international security, foreign policy, gender, and diversity. She has a strong affinity for West Africa regional studies and the French language.
