John R. Deni

Dr. John R. Deni is Research Professor of Security Studies at the U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Studies Institute, a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, and a Nonresident Associate Fellow at the NATO Defence College. Previously, he worked in Europe as a political advisor for senior U.S. military commanders. Before that, Dr. Deni spent several years in Washington as a supervising consultant for the federal government, working on-site in the Pentagon, at Main State and the American Embassy in Kyiv, and at the Department of Energy. Dr. Deni has degrees from the College of William & Mary, American University, and George Washington University. He is the author of three books on European security and the editor or co-editor of several others.  He’s also authored peer-reviewed monographs and journal articles, and his essays have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the LA Times, Foreign Policy, Politico, and War on the Rocks.
