Kirsti Jõesalu

Kirsti Jõesalu is an ethnologist and memory scholar with expertise in cultural memory, museums, and contested pasts in post-socialist Europe. Experienced in ethnographic and oral history research, collaborative curatorial practices. In recent years, her research has focused on how museums navigate competing interpretations of 20th-century history in changing political and socio-economic contexts (mnemus.ut.ee). She was responsible for the exhibition interventions in the concluding MNEMUS project. She is serving as a member of the council of the Estonian National Museum and the research council of the Estonian Open Air Museum.
