Mariia Vladymyrova is a doctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen and research fellow at both the Baltic Defence College and the Stockton Center for International Law. She specializes in Russian deterrence at sea and is part of the European Research Council Ritual Deterrence project, which investigates deterrence through the lens of ritual theory to understand its political and psychological effects in international relations. She previously served as an advisor in the Deutscher Bundestag focusing on foreign and security policy in Russia and the Eastern Partnership of the European Union.
