Olayinka Ajala

Olayinka Ajala is a lecturer in Politics and International relations at Leeds Beckett University, UK, and visiting Research Fellow at the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He teaches international security and development within and outside of the UK. Olayinka is currently a consultant trainer for the Ministry of Defence (UK). In 2013, he was a research fellow at the Combating Terrorism Centre, United States Military Academy, West Point, USA. He has consulted for local and international organisations including the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), the Government of Belgium, and was a lead panel analyst on ‘Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism in Africa’, a round table discussion at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Olayinka’s research interests include African security, rural development, resource conflict, human security, the formation of insurgent groups, and the impact of climate change on conflict.
