Richard C. Bush is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution, where he previously served as Director and was the inaugural Chen-Fu and Cecilia Yen Koo Chair in Taiwan Studies. He has served as the Chairman and Managing Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (the mechanism by which the U.S. conducts relations with Taiwan in the absence of diplomatic relations) and as a member of the National Intelligence Council. Bush is the author of seven books and numerous articles on international affairs in East Asia and U.S. relations with the region, many of them focusing on Taiwan.
