Non-Resident Fellow - Asia Program
Major Ryan Ashley (USAF) is a Non-Resident Fellow in the Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute and an Air Force Intelligence Officer. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s in Security Studies from Angelo State University, a Master’s of Arts in Asian Studies from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and History from George Washington University. Ryan has operational experience with special operations and conventional forces across the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. He is also currently an Adjunct Lecturer with the Air Force Special Operations School teaching courses on East and Southeast Asian politics, culture, and security. His research focuses on the security relations between Japan and countries of Southeast Asia.
