Valerie Bunce

Valerie Bunce is a Professor in the Department of Government at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. She is the author of two books: Do New Leaders Make a Difference: Executive Succession and Public Policy Under Capitalism and Socialism (Princeton University Press, 1981) and Subversive Institutions: The Design and the Destruction ofSocialism and the State (Cambridge University Press, 1999). In addition, she is the author of over fifty articles on democratization that have appeared in a variety of political science and area studies journals, such as World Politics, East European Politics and Societies, and the Slavic Review.
