William Chou is the Deputy Director of Hudson Institute’s Japan Chair, focusing on US-Japan relations and the Indo-Pacific, with an emphasis on regional partnerships, defense innovation, trade, and technology. His forthcoming book, Made for America, explores US-Japanese relations through the lens of Japanese commercial trade. Dr. Chou was previously the George P. Shultz Fellow at the Ronald Reagan Institute and a fellow at the Clements Center at the University of Texas at Austin. He has also worked at the US Army’s Center for Military History and the Institute for Defense Analyses, focusing on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and defense planning. He holds a BA from Yale and an MA and PhD from Ohio State University.
