William Silkworth

William Silkworth is the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy in the State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources.  During his 29-year career as a foreign service officer he has served overseas in Guatemala, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Afghanistan, the Czech Republic and, most recently, Iraq.  At the State Department, his previous assignments have included positions in the Bureaus of European and Eurasian Affairs, Near Eastern Affairs, and Economic and Business Affairs.  While in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, he served a three-year stint in the Office of Energy and Natural Resources. Mr. Silkworth holds a B.A. in History from the College of William and Mary and an M.A. in American History from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
