Israeli Elections: Third Time’s the Charm?

About the Event

For the third time in less than a year, Israelis are going to the polls to elect a new Prime Minister. In the previous attempts, neither Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud nor the more centrist Benny Gantz’s Kahol-Lavan were able to muster enough support from other parties to form a governing coalition. But Netanyahu is now under the shroud of an official indictment and President Donald Trump has unveiled his “Deal of the Century” to solve the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. How will these factors affect the election? What challenges await the next Prime Minister? And how will this decision affect the broader Middle East? Joining us for this discussion is FPRI Senior Fellow Joshua Krasna, an expert on Israeli government and politics.
