The greater Black Sea region has become more complex than ever before. Deepening great power competition over this vital space connecting Europe and Asia that has the Black Sea states engaged in a perpetual tug-of-war. As the region takes an increasingly anti-democratic turn and Russia’s military presence expands in the Black Sea and the South Caucasus, threats to Western strategic interests only deepen.
