Tug-of-War in the Black Sea: Defending NATO’s Eastern Flank

| Eurasia Program

About the Event

The greater Black Sea region has become more complex than ever before. Deepening great power competition over this vital space connecting Europe and Asia that has the Black Sea states engaged in a perpetual tug-of-war. As the region takes an increasingly anti-democratic turn and Russia’s military presence expands in the Black Sea and the South Caucasus, threats to Western strategic interests only deepen. What should the West do to prevent further strategic losses in the region? How can the transatlantic community more effectively push back on the continued assaults on western values in Europe’s east?  Join FPRI and the Atlantic Council of Georgia as we explore these issues.
