China’s Power Play: Understanding UN Resolution 2758

August 07, 2024 | 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm | Asia Program

About the Event

Join the Foreign Policy Research Institute on August 7 at 6:00 PM ET for a virtual event diving into United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 2758, a pivotal resolution adopted by the UNGA in 1971. This resolution recognized the People's Republic of China as "the only legitimate representative of China to the United Nations," effectively replacing the Republic of China (Taiwan). Our webinar will explore the historical significance, legal implications, and ongoing geopolitical impacts of this crucial resolution.

FPRI Asia Program Director Michael Beckley will moderate a discussion with FPRI Asia Program Chair Jacques deLisle and Macquarie University Associate Professor Courtney Fung.

FPRI is happy to provide this event free of charge thanks to the generous support of our members, partners, and event attendees. If you are not currently a member, the suggested donation is $25.
