About the Event

After a brief hiatus, the Orbis Journal of World Affairs is back with a new website, new team, and a new issue. 
 
Editors Nikolas Gvosdev and Lawrence Rubin hosted an open discussion about the future of the journal, the Shifting Ground podcast, and the Spring 2026 issue. 

The Orbis Journal of World Affairs is a joint initiative of FPRI and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Instistute of Technology. Orbis delivers informative and insightful articles and podcasts about foreign policy, national security, and geopolitics, with a particular focus on how emerging technologies are reshaping these fields.

Nikolas K. Gvosdev

Nikolas K. Gvosdev - Nikolas K. Gvosdev is the Director of the National Security Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. Gvosdev is a Professor of National Security Affairs, holding the Captain Jerome E. Levy Chair in Economic Geography and National Security at the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.

Lawrence Rubin

Lawrence Rubin - Dr. Lawrence Rubin is an associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Templeton Fellow in the National Security Program at FPRI.
