Amara Galileo

Amara Galileo is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science & International Relations at the University of Delaware. Her dissertation interrogates whether democracy is eroding in South Africa and Ghana, specifically focusing on areas such as civil liberties, elections, political parties, and civil society comparatively in the two countries. She has been active in several local community groups such as the Delaware Africa Coalition, a nonprofit which aims to bring greater unity to people of African descent in the tri-state area through social, educational, and political programming. She also volunteers for the Delaware African & Caribbean Affairs Commission which is affiliated with the state of Delaware. Her aspiration is to work for the US Department of State and advocate for stronger US-Africa diplomatic relations.
