Julien Deruffe

Julien Deruffe is the Political Advisor to the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) at NATO in Norfolk, Virginia, a post he has held since August 2020. 

A career French diplomat, Mr. Julien Deruffe graduated in 1998 from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris “Sciences Po”. He began his career as a diplomat specializing in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. He held a position at the French Embassy in the Republic of Moldova from 2000 to 2002. 

He was then appointed to the French Permanent Representation to the United Nations in New York as an expert negotiator from 2006 to 2009, where he was in charge of counter-terrorism and post-conflict issues.

His last assignment before joining NATO was as Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in the Republic of Korea in Seoul in 2017.
