Germany’s Defense Strategy: Economics and the Future of European Security

May 13, 2026 | 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm | National Security Program

About the Event

The German government has released a transformational national defense strategy, underpinned by a longer-term commitment to address Russia's growing challenge to European defense, modernize the bureaucracy, and equip the German armed forces for future combat. The new strategy is designed with Europe in mind, positioning Berlin at the center of a continent-wide defense.

FPRI and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation are pleased to host a moderated discussion with Mr. Roderich Kiesewetter, a member of the German Bundestag (CDU), about this new strategy and dive deeper on the economics needed to sustain it.
