Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Walter “Rick” Landgraf, PhD is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Eurasia Program and commentary editor at War on the Rocks. Previously, he was managing editor of the Texas National Security Review. In a 20-year career in the US Army Rick served overseas in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Georgia, Belgium, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He also completed tours at the Pentagon and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Rick holds a PhD in Planning, Governance, and Globalization from Virginia Tech.
