The Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) is pleased to welcome Hadas Aron, Suzanne Loftus, Yeh-chung Lu, Michael Petersen, Rebecca Pincus, Emma Salisbury, and Ayumi Teraoka as Fellows. 

Dr. Hadas Aron is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at FPRI. She is also a researcher at Molad Institute for Democratic Renewal and a teaching fellow at Tel Aviv University. Her work focuses on nationalism, populism, democracy, and illiberalism in the international system. Her current research examines processes of fragmentation of national identity and its political consequences in Israel, Central and Eastern Europe, and the United States.

 

Suzanne Loftus is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at FPRI and an Associate Professor of National Security Strategy at the National Defense University National War College. Previously, she was Associate Professor of National Security at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Germany, as well as a Global Fellow and member of the Advisory Council for the Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute. 

 

Yeh-chung Lu is a Non-Resident Fellow at FPRI and Dean of the College of International Affairs at National Chengchi University (NCCU), where he previously served as Department Chair. He is also Vice President of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy and an advisor to the Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology. His extensive experience includes participation in the US Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and visiting scholar positions at the Henry L. Stimson Center and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, both in Washington, DC.

Michael Petersen is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at FPRI and an expert in Russian military strategy and operations as well as net assessments of high-intensity conflict. He is currently Principal Research Scientist in the Russia Studies Program at the Center for Naval Analyses. Previously, he served as senior advisor to the US Chief of Naval Operations and was founding director of the Russia Maritime Studies Institute and Holloway Advanced Research Program at the US Naval War College.

 

Dr. Rebecca Pincus is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at FPRI. Previously, she was the Director of the Polar Institute at the Wilson Center, and served on the faculty at the US Naval War College, in the Center for Naval Warfare Studies, where her research focused on Arctic security and geopolitics. She also worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy, as Arctic and Climate Strategy Advisor. 

 

Dr. Emma Salisbury is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at FPRI, an Associate Fellow at the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre, and a Contributing Editor at War on the Rocks. She writes widely on military-industrial matters, geopolitics, and national security in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, with a particular focus on maritime. She is based just outside London in the United Kingdom.

 

Ayumi Teraoka is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at FPRI and an Assistant Professor of Politics at Brandeis University. She studies alliance politics and security issues in the Indo-Pacific. Her forthcoming book examines the history of US alliance management in Asia from the 1960s to the present, illuminating the conditions under which the United States successfully negotiated geopolitically contested issues with allies, including air defense integration and the defense of Taiwan, in the face of China’s opposition.
