Ketian Zhang is an Assistant Professor of International Security at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. Her research examines Chinese coercion, focusing on the South China Sea and Chinese foreign policy. Zhang’s work has been published in journals such as International Security and Security Studies. Her book, China’s Gambit, came out in December 2023 with Cambridge University Press. It examines when, why, and how China coerces other states when faced with perceived threats to its national security.
