Professor Joshua Eisenman

Joshua Eisenman is associate professor of politics in the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame and Senior Fellow for China Studies at the American Foreign Policy Council. His research, which has appeared in prestigious academic journals and policy outlets, focuses on the political economy of China’s development and its foreign relations with the global south—particularly Africa. His new book, China’s Relations with Africa: A New Era of Strategic Engagement (Columbia University Press, 2023) co-authored with David H. Shinn, examines contemporary China-Africa political and security relations. Professor Eisenman received his Ph.D. in political science from UCLA in 2014.
