How do Technological Revolutions Affect the Rise and Fall of Great Powers?

September 23, 2024 | 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm | Asia Program

About the Event

The FPRI Asia Program is pleased to host 2024 Templeton Fellow Jeffrey Ding to discuss his new book, Technology and the Rise of Great Powers: How Diffusion Shapes Economic Competition, published with Princeton University Press. This cutting-edge publication investigates why some states successfully adapted to technological revolutions. From Britain’s dominance in the First Industrial Revolution to China’s challenge in the 21st century AI race, Ding offers a theory of how the global balance of power rests on the diffusion of general-purpose technologies throughout a country's economy.
