The Future of The Mediterranean: Views from the Region

February 04, 2026 | 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm | National Security Program

About the Event

The Mediterranean Sea connects Europe with Africa and Asia and is a critical geopolitical area in a rapidly changing world. The United States has considerable interests in the region and has strong relations with Greece, a key regional ally. To discuss the regional dynamics at play, FPRI will host HE Alexandra Papadopoulou, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Hellenic Republic for a 1- hour discussion.

The two will discuss regional events in the Mediterranean Sea, ranging from the implications of the war in Ukraine for regional security, the growing energy connections in the area, and how Athens views regional and global security and economic issues.
