Non-Resident Senior Fellow - Eurasia Program

Christopher M. Faulkner is a non-resident Senior Fellow in FPRI’s Eurasia Program and an Assistant Professor of National Security Affairs in the College of Distance Education at the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) where he teaches courses on Foreign Policy Analysis, International Security, and Irregular Warfare. 
 
Previously, Faulkner was a postdoctoral fellow with the National Security Affairs Department at the NWC. Before joining the NWC, he served as a postdoctoral researcher with the University of Central Florida and as a visiting assistant professor at Centre College. He earned his Ph.D. in security studies from the University of Central Florida and was a Minerva-Jennings Randolph Peace and Security Scholar with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). 
 
Faulkner’s research focuses on militant group behavior, private military and security companies, and civil-military relations. He is a co-author on a forthcoming book on the Wagner Group and has published widely in leading international security and relations journals such as the European Journal of International Relations and International Studies Quarterly. In addition to FPRI, he is a contributor to outlets like the CTC Sentinel, Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, Lawfare, the Modern War Institute, and War on the Rocks.
